El que quiere celeste que le cueste, 2013

Site specific at my Parsons studio, 2013

“El que quiere Celeste que le cueste”

Projection and mixed media on room
9 x 9 x 8.1 feet

The projection—a still image—was interrupted every seven minutes by a looping GIF that mimicked a screen saver, briefly turning the entire screen blue for two seconds.

The title plays on an Argentine saying that loosely translates to “No pain, no gain.” More literally, it means: “Whoever wants blue must make the effort to get it.”

The piece offers an ironic reflection on the desire to succeed as an artist in New York. Viewers had to actively make the effort to remain in the space in order to catch the fleeting appearance of the color blue and fully experience the work.
